US scientists have created the first living robot. The specialty of this robot is that it is being described as a living programmable organism.

Scientists in the US have created living robots for the first time. This robot can be categorized as being alive. They are also being called Xenobot. A group of scientists has succeeded in using living cells of frog embryos as other new life-forms. This robot is being described as a ‘living programmable organism’.

This newly created robot is also named as ‘Xenobots’ can be used in the field of medical science. Through robots, they can also help in carrying the medicine inside the patient’s body or doing other similar tasks. Joshua Bongard, a computer scientist and robotics scientist at Vermot University, said, “These are living machines, which can help in the direction of new research.” They cannot be classified as traditional robots. Nor can they be called part of any species of animal. These are living programmable creatures. ‘

Michael Levine, who directed the Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology at Tufts, also described it as a special experiment. He said that he could develop creatures that could be used to collect microplastics in the ocean. Or it can help in the treatment by going in human nerves. The results of this new research were published on 13 January in ‘Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences’.
