March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day. The reason for celebrating this day dedicated to women is that women can get equal rights as men all over the world. In every country of the world, the honor and rights of women should be protected, so the United Nations appeals to celebrate this day as International Women’s Day.
In the old times, in our society, women were kept locked in four walls. They were not even given away political rights, but even today, due to their efforts of women, many changes have taken place. In today’s time, there will hardly be any area where women do not contribute.
When did women’s day start?
In 1908, when the women of New York City came out on the streets and fought for their rights, the celebration of Women’s Day was started. On this day, 15,000 women demonstrated in New York City to reduce job hours, demand for better pay and some other rights. A year later, the Socialist Party of America declared this day as the first National Women’s Day. The United Nations officially celebrated the first International Women’s Day on 8 March 1975.
How 8th March becomes international women’s day?
In fact, during an international conference of working women in Copenhagen in 1910, it was proposed to celebrate ‘International Women’s Day’. At that conference, 100 women from 17 countries were present, who supported this suggestion. After this, in 1911, International Women’s Day was celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.
International Women’s Day Theme
Let us tell you that on March 8, 1975, when Women’s Day was officially recognized, the United Nations started celebrating it with a theme. Every year International Women’s Day is organized on a special theme. The first day was ‘Celebrating the Past, Planning for the Future.’ Celebrated with the theme. At the same time this year’s theme is ‘I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights’.
Even today the need to raise voice is not over
Even today, in the field of politics, business, jobs, society and education, women are participating shoulder to shoulder with men in every field. But despite this, women are still considered weak somewhere.
Men should not understand the silence of women, stop understanding the helplessness
Incidents like rape, dowry and female exploitation are also happening in today’s time. In our country, women and innocent girls cannot leave the house alone at night, but what can women do if they are determined once. Women should also fight for their rights. It is also important to come forward in front of the society and openly speak. Instead of coming under someone’s pressure and exercising their rights instead of suppressing their rights, this is the identity of the woman. By which time and generation can be changed.
On this day, all women should take a pledge not to panic. Continue on the path of progress so that this situation can be rectified in future.
